The CD has been out for a while and it contains the elusive episode The New Level Crossing.
I reckon you'll very much enjoy this series Stephen, it's pretty good for its time. It has a great cast but I feel the stand out performer is Kenneth Connor. Arthur and Ian are great too.

Encouraging start, quite enjoyed it, although i felt a little that the Kenneth Connor character was in the same mould of the Sid James character in Hancock. Just an opinion.

Sid James was the best thing in Hancock in my opinion!

Sid was a perfect for Hancock but they were never a team, Sid had a very sucessful career in films while Tony had only TV & radio, Tonys last BBC TV series which many people remember, The Blood Donor, The Lift, The Bowmans etc were all without Sid.

Yeah, Hancock didn't want to be seen as a double act with Sid , so dropped him along with Galton and Simpson and his long term agent, to go it alone.
Of the episodes you have mentioned i have only seen The Blood Donor, and although funny, of all the episodes i have seen The Lawyer is my favourite, it has Sid and also John Le Mes and Bill Fraser (husband of Pam Cundell) in.

Anybody know what quality the episodes are.

I have not heard any but I believe the BBC now has good quality restored versions for all episodes.

The quality on the radio the other night was not perfect, you could tell it was a relatively old show, there was a less than stereo sound.
Best way i can describe it is, as if a blanket was covering the speakers.

It's better than nothing at all, which apart from one episode is what the BBC used to have in their holdings.
I emailed the BBC on several occasions over the years offering them copies of the ones I had collected which at the time they never had, and never ever got a reply. Hopeless.

It wasn't a complaint Dave it was an opinion that's all, to the question from Nunky.

Yep, of course, Sorry if my message came across wrong, I was thinking how good it is that the BBC finally have all the episodes and they are releasing them on CD and on BBC Radio again.

I believe there are lots of people who have offered radio shows but have never heard back from the BBC, there are many 'lost' episodes of things like The Goon Show out there in newsgroups that are quite good quality, though Radio 4 extra have been broadcasting some of The Navy Lark from 1963 reel to reel recordings that were send to them recently.

I listened to last nights episode, and i enjoyed it, much clearer sound on this episode, than the pilot from last week.
I am struggling a bit with the similarity between the characters played by Arthur and Ian from their Dad's Army characters at the moment.
The pompous and officious Horace/Mainwaring and Pike/Bert being stupid boy, and accident prone.

I remember Keith Skues from Radio London were he was a DJ along with Dave Cash, Kenny Everett, Ed Stewart etc - I have a cd where he tells the story of the pirate radio ship.
