A few of John's performances in films are also starting to turn up on Talking Pictures TV (as well as other DA stars) nice to think these are getting a new lease of live after years of sitting on shelves and not been shown...

I discovered today that director Michael Powell wrote a book called "200,000 Feet on Foula", a diary of the production of his film "The Edge of the World", which of course starred John Laurie as one of the leads. It would be interesting to see what he wrote in there about John, and if he wrote about filming the incredible stunt work John did on the cliff face with the sheep.

We have just seen John (as the judge) in 'Justice Is a Woman' (ITV Playhouse): an extra on Series One of Justice. The wonderful Margaret Lockwood plays a barrister up against a traditional and dour judge. Thankfully the idea of a woman barrister was revived when Miss Lockwood stared in 'Justice' as Harriet Peterson:
Recently joined members of the Forum Platoon might not be aware of this, which I found earlier this evening (and now see that the diligent Mr Howells found some considerable time earlier!)... Well worth downloading and listening to.

I actually really enjoy John's appearance on Desert Island Discs - I became quite interested in all the appearances when I was sent a selection of clips around 17 years ago featuring John, Arnold and John Le Mesurier. I did a series of articles at the time for Permission To Speak sir! the DAAS newsletter and transcribed what I had. Since writing those the full shows featuring Arnold and John Laurie have gone online and Arthur Lowe's has been recovered and is also available to listen to! 9 Minutes of Clive's are also online in a somewhat edited form.
