Wow, yes. This is a really difficult one. There are so many superb actors to choose from. How many are we allowed to pick? For me it's a really tough choice between Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, Clive Dunn and Frank Williams.

Yes it's very hard to pick a favorite. Dads Army had such an incredibly talented cast. If forced to pick one it would have to be John Le Mesurier. but it could just as easily be Arthur Lowe....no wait... Clive Dunn..Oh hang on I forgot about John Laurie. Sorry I can't pick just one.

I'm going for Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier purely as I love the exchanges between them both throughout the series. Of course the cast was and remains an absolute dream team of actors. Its since been proven it will never be bettered, yes, we can have remakes and new interpretations but nothing comes close to the original...
So, I wouldnt say I love any of the others any less, infact they all have more than their fair share of great moments, but Mainwaring and Wilson remain a constant for me!

Well said Andy.
They are all great, but if I were able to meet, sit down and have a really good interview with just one of them, I think I'd have to pick John Laurie. He would have had so many stories from his long career in the business, and from his wartime years and his personal life that I'd love to listen to. And he was as good a storyteller as Frazer was.
