Hello all,
I’ ve just watched ”Sons of the Sea”, great episode where the platoon is about to surrender....they think they are in the heart of France. (Of course the captain will not hear of any surrender!)
But did this ever happen in reality? Did any Home Guard unit - in the UK or overseas - surrender to the enemy?

While researching rumours of Auxiliary Units fighting on the Continent, I found that a number of stories existed (or still exist) of British POWs wearing Home Guard uniforms in the camps. I don't think these stories have ever been completely disproved, although one possibly credible theory is that these were surplus uniforms sent by the Red Cross. Again, I'm not certain that this has ever been proven either way.
