”However, the historic station building is now set to be demolished under permitted development rights by rail operator Greater Anglia, who have a 99-year lease on the station from owner Network Rail and wish to extend the station car park.” 🙁
”By Jove, that’s the sort of talk I like to hear!”
Oh no, it would be such a shame if this building were to be demolished! I love the episode The Big Parade. My favourite scene is when Jones ambles up behind all the other men who have taken their hats off and are very solemn thinking he has died.
It would be a shame, but I have to admit it looked in quite a bad way when I visited last summer. Quite likely it's been deliberately allowed to fall into an unsafe condition to make it easier to call for redevelopment. Of course the building has not been used for some time, even though the station itself is still a working one.

Good news about Brandon Station, reported in the latest Permission to Speak Sir:
Apparently, plans to demolish the building were quashed in the High Court on 30th July. The owners, Great Anglia, do not intend to appeal the decision. In addition a planning application has been made to bring the building - built in 1845 - back into use.
