A really versatile actor, particularly in sound, and of course he played Arthur Lowe in the biopic We're Doomed: The Dad's Army Story in 2015. A great loss. RIP. |

I just heard this sad news too.
John was brilliant as Arthur Lowe, Captain Mainwaring in We're Doomed.
I wish they had cast him in the missing episodes.
