That was hilarious! Really interesting to see a bit of this show. There was a lot of Jonesie in that portrayal of the Doctor. And cool to see Wilfred Brambell as "Albert Steptoe", and Hercules make a cameo appearance, and Sir Patrick Moore, and was that Stephen Lewis too very briefly as the doorman? Was the interviewer David Frost?

Think its Frank Thornton as the doorman... and that was Michael Bentine interviewing The Doctor AKA Clive. An interesting clip, I'd really like to see more of this series...

I believe a very young Clive Dunn was in Will Hay's film 'Boys will be Boys'.
I have that film. Can't say I've spotted Clive. Can anyone point him out ?

I think I have him pegged now. Is he the kid that walks in to the classroom (near the start of the film)and hands Will Hay the letters/mail ? I love the 'How High is a Chinaman' skit by the way.

Not sure Paul, I actually dont have that one in my Will Hay collection to check, anyone else can confirm? By the way it would have been Clive's 96th birthday today!

Thanks Andy, I'm pretty sure it is. You can see the resemblance. That Will Hay movie 'Boys will be Boys' is freely available on youtube. I highly recommend it. Funny stuff. & Happy Birthday Clive.

The Wiki page and also IMDb has this credit for the film : 1935 Boys Will Be Boys.... Schoolboy watching rugby uncredited
So here is the scene Paul is talking about....we have a clear side-on view at 2:27 of the boy coming in with the letters. The rugby scenes seem to start around 1:02.42 but couldn't say I spotted him anywhere...no doubt he was there, but there are quite a few long-distance shots as well. I thought it quite funny that a lot of the 'boys' seemed to be approaching early middle-age

Clive still looks really young there though... although he'd have been in his teens by then... thats a lovely shot though and nice to have seen it. I'll watch this all the way through, I love Will Hay's films and isnt it incredible that another one (Oh Mr Porter) inspired Jimmy Perry's character concept in Dad's Army - which also included Clive!

Just listened, 9 minutes better than none. Think he would have said if it was him delivering the letters Andy. He says his first paid job was being in the crowd in Boys will be Boys....

Plomley always had a way of sounding completely disinterested in the answers his guests gave him, haha.

My Broadband has been off so haven't had chance to catch Definitely Dunn yet...
On another note Talking Pictures TV featured a few episodes of the 1970s Southern TV series Tell Me Another this week which featured extracts of an interview with Clive recounting funny stories. Among those featured were his first attempt at an ice show and discussing the song Trifling Occurences...
