Thanks Jon/Dave, looks like I have all 56 to look forward to. Just finished 'A Stupid Boy' so will be interesting to have a little background info as well on some of the episodes.
Talking about Jimmy's autobiography, I found it a little strange to hear about his liking for Pam and meals with her family but no mention at all of getting married to Gilda in 1953. Perhaps, like Elizabeth, she liked to remain in the background.....
Gilda Perry was very much to the fore, they both ran the Palace theatre in Watford and she appeared in 3 episodes of Dad's Army and an episode of Are you being Served ?, BTW Gilda's sister was the late Diane Holland was is most remembered for playing the dancer Yvonne Stuart-Hardgreaves in Hi De Hi.
It Ain't Half Hot Mum has just been on cable-TV (Foxtel) in Australia for the last year or so, they must have shown all the episodes (except the final series - for some unknown reason) about five times, so it has been good to catch up with the series, without having to buy all the DVD's, although they are at times at reduced prices both on-line and in stores.
But as I said for some unknown reason the last series (series 8) wasn't shown, so I bought that one along with series-1 which I had bought earlier, which has the so-called 'lost' episodes on there as a 'special feature'. When series-1 was shown on Foxtel surprisingly the 'lost' episodes were shown - with a 'disclaimer' about the picture quality etc etc ... but came up looking fine just as they do on the DVD's.
