I could take or leave Allo, Allo and if I missed it, then it never bothered me.
While working on the railway years ago, I got to meet up with the tall gent who played the Gendarme after he had finished recording some outside scenes at a village called Mundford here in Norfolk. To be honest, I expected him to speak with a French accent and was quite surprised when he answered in plain English. He was waiting at the local railway station for a lift, while I thought he wanted to catch a train that wasn't running on the day and due to Electrification work being carried out.

I see from an advertisement in the Mail On Sunday a 25th anniversary production of Allo Allo will shortly be doing the rounds with Jeffrey holland and Vikki Michelle. I presume Jeffrey Holland is playing Rene as there is no mention of Gordon Kaye.

There's a full list of the Allo Allo Tour dates here. And another article about Jeffery Holland and Vicki Michelle appearing in the stage play here.Neither Gordon Kaye or Guy Siner are involved.

My daughter is a huge fan of ALLO ALLO!
i AM NOT much. I love Dad's Army more. But we both love Guy Siner in ALLO ALLO! i think he is so talented and I love his singing voice. I just loved it when he used to sing those beautiful songs , playing the piano in ALLO ALLO.
Like most Brit Actors, they seem to do everything, sing, dance, act, tell jokes, do theatre, etc. etc. Does anyone have any interesting stories on Guy Siner?

Also, did you notice that was Guy near the beginning of the first Pirates of the Caribbean? He's playing the official that Jack Sparrow bribes as soon as he steps off his sinking ship onto the pier. Guy's appearance was brief. Brief enough that I was still thinking "now where have I seen him before" by the time it was over. A minute or two later, it dawned: "Oh, it was GRUBER!!"

You know I read it somehwere that he had a brief moment in POTC. But I dont recall seeing him. Now I will take out my DVD of POTC and watch it again . Just for that brief moment. I read that he is half american, American born but bred in the uK. & after ALLO ALLO he spent some time in the USA .

It's because if you haven't seen him since Allo Allo, he looks considerably more full-faced and (understandably) older. I didn't recognize his face at all at first, but I knew immediately that I'd heard that voice before.
If you like Guy, you should also try to catch his performance as Noel Coward in the "Royal Flush" episode of You Rang M'Lord. It's as though you're watching Lt. Gruber except with Gruber's ego totally running amuck.

Guess it might have been helpful if I'd thought to tell you that's Series 2 Episode 7 of You Rang M'Lord.

oH thank you !
these brit comedies are real gems, arent they? And the actors/actresses who do these comedies are in my eyes some sort of unsung heroes.
Regarding what you said about Guy Siner. [glow=red,2,300]Re: If you like Guy, you should also try to catch his performance as Noel Coward in the "Royal Flush" episode of You Rang M'Lord. It's as though you're watching Lt. Gruber except with Gruber's ego totally running amuck.[/glow]
Reminds me of Rowan Atkinson's recent stage success in 'Oliver' , playing Fagin.
Unfortunately I wasnt able to see it but an article I read online said that it was like seeing MR BEAN, BLACKADDER , and Raymond Fowler of THE THIN BLUE LINE all in one. It was nevertheless hilarious and the crowds loved it.
I'd give anything to see that !

Though I love Blackadder and Mr Bean, I think Rowan was very below par in The Thin Blue Line, and it was only the other characters who held that show together. It's too odd to see him playing a nice guy.

In the extras of the dvd Thin Blue Line pack I have there is one section on Ben Elton, its creator and of Blackadder , writer and comedian.
He says in the interview that there was talk that he copied his Thin Blue Line format from Dad's Dad's Army. (the pompous leader of a band of misfits) ;D
He said he didnt, but he was very flattered at the thought of it. Mr Ben Elton was quoted as saying that Dad's Army is his all time favourite comedy . !
Hurray !

It`s really weird that I have to really be in the mood to watch `Allo Allo. If it came on t.v right now I wouldn`t bother to watch it but then something would probably come over me and I would have to watch it in two months time or something.
Where as if an episode of DA came on now I would HAVE to watch it!
xx

Dad's Army I can watch any old time.

My sister recently got a couple of Allo Allo DVD's and she loaned them to me. It was brilliant to see the series again as it's been about ten years since it last aired here, maybe longer. It's still as good as it always was. I would have to be in the right mood to watch Are You Being Served which has dated very badly, but Allo Allo for me is always a must watch. Early ones anyway before half the main cast left/died.

I always felt that 'Allo 'allo when on a couple of series too long & started to repeat itself towards the end and when 3 of the characters were replaced by different actors it lost a lot of its attraction for me - there are only so many things you can do with a german sausage !!

I didn't watch it but I remember seeing a trailer for it. I think it was Rene and Yvette talking about their "lives" with lots of clips from the show.
